Rescue Efforts: Expanding Our Mission of Care
At IndyAdopts!, our mission has always been to connect people and cats through education, adoption, and community collaboration. Now, we’re taking the next step— launching a cat rescue initiative that will allow us to provide direct medical care and temporary housing to cats in need.
This new effort will help us support more cats across Central Indiana, especially those who require medical attention or a safe place to heal before finding their forever homes.
Learn More: Indiana Rescue FAQ
-
Indiana law requires any organization providing veterinary care or housing for animals to be a registered rescue or shelter with the Indiana State Board of Animal Health (BOAH). Until we obtain this registration, our ability to care for cats beyond the café setting is limited.
-
It means we’ll be able to medically treat and temporarily house cats under IndyAdopts’ direct care. We’ll also maintain detailed records, meet inspection standards, and follow BOAH’s guidelines for animal health and safety.
-
Registration allows IndyAdopts to:
Support more cats who need medical attention
Ease the burden on local shelters by providing additional housing
Offer transparent, ethical care guided by state standards
Strengthen collaboration with Indy Neighborhood Cats and current partners
