Our Mission.

IndyAdopts! mission is to reduce overcrowding and free up valuable shelter and rescue resources by facilitating adoptions at Nine Lives Cafe & Cat Lounge.

We accomplish this by acting as a free-roaming foster home for the cats in our care, educating the community on the importance of spaying and neutering, and raising money through our nonprofit foundation to help care for the cats at our local shelters and rescues.

Meet the Director

IndyAdopts! welcomes Jessica Oburn as the new Executive Director.

IndyAdopts! was originally founded in 2021 by Kelley Niiyama with the intention of supporting adoptions at Nine Lives Cat Cafe. In May 2025, Jessica and Scott Oburn purchased the cafe, with Jessica taking on the role of Executive Director and President of the foundation.

Jessica brings more than 20 years' of accounting and nonprofit experience to the table combined with a passion for helping and contributing to her community.

Her primary goals as the new director are to spread awareness regarding the burden of over-crowding on our local shelters and rescues and to promote the importance of spaying and neutering our cats. She will also continue to work hard for each and every cat they foster at the cafe to get adopted into their fur-ever home, freeing up space at other facilities and reducing euthanasia rates. Her first big fundraising goal is to raise enough money to send each adopted cat home with a starter bag of supplies for their fresh start in their new home.
